The Local Taphouse will hosting a British Lions SpecTAPular on Saturday 15th June as we welcome the British Lions to Sydney. The SpecTAPular is our festival in a pub event where we feature that day, 20 unique beers and 2 ciders across our taps. There will be 10 craft beers and 1 cider from the UK facing off against another 10 beers and 1 cider from some of our favourite Australian craft breweries.
Some of the beers from the UK will come from Thornbridge, Harviestoun, Moor, Marble, St Peters, and St Austell. While some of the specialty Aussie brews will come from Feral, Nail, Mountain Goat, Stone & Wood, Kooinda, 4 Pines, as well as the launch of the new Taphouse collaboration with Australian Brewery for our hand pull - a cask-conditioned traditional English Best Bitter.
We’ll be transforming The Local into a fully themed UK boozer, expect crisps and pickled eggs from the bag, morris dancing, and lads throwing pints of piss! Our kitchen will be serving up a moorish food menu, and our local 'Queen' Leroy will host the fancy dress comp; so come dressed as Baby Spice, David Brent, Jodie Marsh, or even your favourite Gallagher.
It’s all taking place on Saturday 15th June from 12pm with the British Lions playing locally from 7pm, so expect a carnival atmosphere all day till late!
Who will win the battle of the nations? Will the Aussies, once convicts from the UK rise up and beat them at their own game, or will the motherland show their sons how its done?
