Rogues Samples from the US

I don't want to make you too jealous but I'm sitting here sampling one of 24 Rogue beers that have been sent to me. Tough life huh? We will be getting some Rogues to sell soon so watch this space.

On another front, we've just tapped Bridge Road's new Chestnut Lager..

  1. You actually scored 1 more than they claim to make in the Rogue Ale series on their website. I love the way beer is going in this country. On my recent trip to the UK I found a few good US beers but not the ones I really wanted so this is a distribution landmark. How long until the host of a beer appreciation society at your bar gets to to try some? :)

  2. Man I hope you have some of these in by Friday! Either way, I can't wait.
    Cheers
    Greg.

  3. I was told there was 24 but haven't actually counted. Still, 23 would be bearable. These are only samples so there's no more in the country until the first shipment comes in mid October. Watch the blog for more exciting Rogue news coming up..

  4. Hate to rub it in, but the Chocolate Stout was sensational!

  5. Most of them are pretty good, especially the "Imperial" stuff.
A few were a bit ordinary & some were "interesting".
I was going to take more precise notes but decided to wait until I can buy full bottles & review them properly.
Happy that we will finally have at least one US micro available that hasn't gone via Europe. Hopefully more to come!

  6. Damn you Greenman, the chocolate stout was one I was most looking forward to!

I'm with you Brendan. Hopefully, there'll be more of this to come. October's Ale Stars Sesssion could well be a Rogue Ales Session.

  7. Say whaaaa? God bless you and your Taphouse. Will be there with bells on when the Rogue arrives. Choc Stout and Shakey Stout were absolute winners when I had them o/s. Cannot wait! You talking stubbies or "bombers" entering the country? Or kegs?

  8. It's looking pretty good that Oct or Nov will see a Rogues tasting of 8 to 10 of their beers. The list will be posted as soon as confirmed although it will include a stout or two.

Given its spring, we will be getting the Dead Guy Ale, Hazelnut Brown Nectar, Imperial I2PA and Old Crustacean (Barley Wine) for the fridge. Should arrive late Oct!

    ... now we're talking!

(will there be lemonade available for those who can't keep up :-) )

  10. I know fine well you can keep up Graham. Start your training now and we'll see you front and centre (or maybe "center" since it's US beer) for the Rogue ale landing party.

  11. Yeah, the whole range is solid. A good cross section of beers. Ranging from weirdo novelty beers to robustly hopped insanity and many shades of grey. The stouts and porters were really good as were the imp stout and ipa (as expected)
