A trip to Harts Hotel (in the Rocks) and Redoak

Last Thursday, while I was in Sydney, Head Chef Robbie and I were due to attend Murray's Brewing Co Beer and Bites night but there was a nasty accident at the brewery and it was postponed. I truly hope everything is ok for all involved down in Port Stephens.

At a loose end, Robbie and I visited Harts Pub in The Rocks area, the new venture by ex Taphouse staffer, Mark Fethers (pictured above) and partner Alex. They have four Rock's Brewing beers on taps (Rocks is part owned by Scotty Morgan) plus 7 craft beers (NSW faves on the night we were there) and Pipqueak Cider. The non-Rocks beers will apparently rotate every 8 weeks or so.

The place was apparently 3 historic terraces which were joined together 30+ years ago and made into Harts Pub, in the shadows of the Shangri-La Hotel. The pub itself is a great rabbit warren of various size rooms over two levels with two bars, a kitchen and an outdoor area. The fitout is classy too.

It's great to see another micro beer venue in Sydney join us in our better beer crusade and we wish them all the best. I'm sure they'll do well in such a popular precinct.

For a nightcap, Robbie and I wandered up to Redoak for one of their brilliant IPA's (pictured below)..
