Last night in Darlo saw an unprecedented large crowd gather for an appreciation session on old and vintage ales including Emersons Old 95, Coopers Vintage Ale (2009), Three Floyds Oatgoop and Horn Dog Barley Wine (on tap for the first time in Australia I think).
There were quite a few newcomers including the new tsar Doc who, after overcoming some early nerves of having to face such a crowd, seemed to settle into the format. A new member was inducted (Mark #D15) and a few expressed interest in becoming one. The trivia was heaps of fun and more broadly appealing while the addition of the blind tasting comp was a highlight (see photo above as they clammer to pick up their taster).
I've managed to get to quite a few of these sessions in Darlo and, with such a great turnout, this one had the best vibe yet. Everybody seemed to really enjoy themselves (it could have the been the high ABV beers!) so hopefully all will come back again and even bring friends.
We'll post more info about the next session when it's all confirmed. I can, however, tell you it's on Tuesday June 2nd (first Tues of each month). Remember, everyone is welcome.
Here's the slideshow from last night (apologies for the photo quality. The office camera was out of batteries so I had to use my iPhone)..
