Star Spangled SpecTAPular a non-starter. Ideas for replacement welcome!

Despite his very best efforts, Dave Andrews from Innspire beer importers has been unable to pull together the US craft beers we'd been hoping for for this year's Star Spangled SpecTAPular which last year was a huge hit featuring Rogue ales. Rest assured, we'll be doing all we can with Dave to reinstate the event in the future.

In the meantime, we have a few other ideas for an alternate theme. As it's our winter seasonal festival, perhaps you lot have some ideas too. If so, let us know by posting comments below!

  1. Damn, I was looking forward to some US beers too.

Could always showcase some Canadian beers since Unibroue have a decent presence here - Canada Day is July 1.

  2. Unibroue don't export to Australia any more I think. Anyway, getting kegs is a very different proposition.. unless someone has a contact :-)

  3. What about a World Cup edition? 32 Teams equals 32 Beers! Who will win the SpecTAPular World Cup?

  4. Nice idea! Might be too close to Anzac SpecTAPular.. Again, it would be easy to do with bottles but kegs are a whole different ball game!

  5. How about a Belgian theme, it's their national day on July 21st?!

  6. That's one idea we've had but I didn't know about July 21st. Thanks!

  7. maybe a State of Origin one?? 3 beers from each of the six states and 2 from the ACT (i don't think NT has any breweries just yet). I think each state has enough breweries to give a bit of variety of provider and being local it may make it easier to source in time as a backup plan. Also gives you flexibility with regard to style and if you have any leftovers (worst case) they can stay on next week and not make the menu too unbalanced.

  9. How bout a collection of spiced ales, darker ales, winter warmers, scottish ales, smoked beers, fortified beers, anything sort of 'unusual' you'd love to sit in front of the fire with on a cold night(and watch a 3am world cup game)...

  11. How about all NSW craft breweries to support our great state!

  12. Anon, it's too narrow a category for the lofty themes of a SpecTAPular ;-) We showcase heaps of NSW brewery stuff in both our Sydney (and Melbourne) venue regularly.

When Aussie beers feature in our SpecTAPulars, however, NSW breweries are always represented!
