Taphouses raise $4851 for NZ earthquake charity causes

Both Taphouses have raised $4851 for charitable causes associated with the NZ Earthquake.

For the Red Cross Appeal, St Kilda raised $565 and Darlo $325.60 from cans on the bars plus $360.55 from selling some donated bottle stock in St Kilda. A grand total of $1250.55!

The Local Taphouse is also donating $3600 which includes some proceeds from selling donated Matilda Bay and The Little Brewing Co kegs. This will be donated to a charitable fund soon to be set up the Brewers Guild of New Zealand to assist those breweries, brewpubs and beer bars in Christchurch directly affected by the earthquake disaster (photo of Twisted Hop post-quake above).

As we hear more about this initiative, we will let you know but it is likely to be the same fund we donate all door proceeds from both Kiwi SpecTAPulars on May 21st in both venues.

Thanks also to Dave Cryer (Cryer Malt) and Australian Brews News for their initiative and involvement in helping pulling this together.

Matt at ABN approached us with the idea and DC's company donated the delivery fee of the donated kegs by The Little Brewing Co and Matilda Bay and acknowledged in your post as well given that he made the kegs available to you in the first place.
