Growlers and Squealers finally on sale in Darlo!

Pre-filled Growlers (approx 2 ltr) and Squealers (approx 1 ltr) of takeaway tap beer are finally available for sale in Darlo!

As of Tuesday night, we had Illawarra Kolsch and Nelson Pale as well as Doctor's Orders Zephyr Wit. We have four taps for for filling to start with and limited stocks so the menu will constantly change... The place to find out what we have on is in the right hand column at the top of our blog. More taps are in the planning..

You pay for the empty Growlers ($15) and Squealer ($10) then the fill price depends on the beer..

Photographed above is the purchaser of the first ever Darlo growler. His name is a mystery to us but he apparently he saw the announcement online and came straight on down!

  1. Can you bring your own growler or do you need to buy one every time?

  2. You buy an empty Taphouse growler then every time you bring it back, we swap it for a new, filled one.

  7. Hey Fluffy,

We have been told by Weights & Measures (i.e. Govt) that we cannot fill others growlers unless they comply. Even if they do, we have to use our pre-cleaned growlers and we clean properly which takes about 10 mins each. So short answer is no. Sorry!

  8. I've just seen the announcement, great news! However, I can only see the Dr's Orders Zephyr on the web page, there's no information about the other 3 taps. Is this is a problem with my browser?

Steve, is the growler listing on the blog current?

  10. So i need to buy site specific growlers for every single venue that i want to get takeaway beer from? I just bought 2 from a place at Warners bay, and was hoping to get them filled at the sydney places as well, i won't be buying 10 growlers, any movement on that position? I think growlers will become popular but not if you can only get fills where you got the growlers form.

  11. I think its stupid (although I am collecting Growlers to decorate my bar). I mean the whole point of a growler is to save on recycling glass and enjoy fresh tapped product without going through the manufacturing process.

In Tassy they fill up 'second hand' growlers no prob. In fact, it should be up to the owner to clean them out, imagine the tap house cleaning hundreds of bottles a week if its a big success.

    Silly.

    Chris.

  12. Is it that you are required to fill your pre-cleaned growlers or that you choose to do it that way?
