Over the years, we've had more than 25 SpecTAPular beerfests and each has had a different theme. There's been the Star Spangled SpecTAPular, Kiwi SpecTAPular, Moose & Mountie SpecTApular and Oktoberfest SpecTAPular, to name just a few.
While we have the biggest of them all, the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) coming up in May at the Royal Exhibition Building, after that we have our first ever Italian SpecTAPular on Saturday July 21st in both venues.
Craft beer has taken off in a big way in Italy. The country now has 360 microbreweries and, from nothing, real beer has come to account for 2% of total Italian beer sales. You can read more about the scene here.
There will more details to follow but we can confirm that 17 of the 20 beers will be tapped for the first time ever in Australia. Which should be molto bene.
Naturally, we will look at bringing you some Italian food, entertainment and costumes too. We'll also try to come up with a more creative name for the event. Suggestions welcome!
