All Hallows' Eve fun in St. Kilda

All Hallows' Eve started off spookily Wednesday with our costumed guests starting to arrive.

Shandy introduced our first guest, brewer Tim from Hop Dog Beerworks in NSW. We sampled his All Hallowed Ale - a spicy belgian tripel laced with tasty pumpkin.  This paired perfectly with the pumpkin pie and pecan praline from the kitchen.

Tim continued his guest appearance by explaining Illawarra's Smashing Rumpkin - a refreshing ale aged in rum barrels with hints of vanilla, coconut, sweet spice and cinnamon. Pumpkin seeds tossed in the chef's secret recipe accompanied this beer.

The Moon Dog boys were on hand to take us through their Artisan Poseure beer - a spiced pumpkin ale. Deliciously spicy and paired with the sweetest treat of all - toffee apples!

Last but not least, our own Funky Brewster had the Goliath imperial coffee stout to which was added pumpkin, candied ginger, vanilla & star anise.  Paired with the graveyard chocolate mousse served in a shot glass with an orange "headstone" it rounded off the night perfectly!

Raffle tickets were sold for the greatest prize ever - a 10kg Cadbury chocolate bar, generously donated by Ale Star and Taphouse regular, Derek who conveniently works at Kraft.  The lucky winner of this and a very large stomach ache was Toby. Runner up prizes included (more) candy and a voucher, (which Tim from Hop Dog doesn't look thrilled with by his face)!

The real winners were St. Kilda Mums, a local organisation helping mums and kids who received the raffle money topping $125.

Looking forward to next year's celebration!
