See the Hottest 100 Craft Beers of 2012 countdown on Australia Day here!

The ‘Hottest 100’ Aussie Craft Beers of 2012 are being announced tomorrow (Australia Day) and a record number of voters have had their say.

Will Stone & Wood’s Pacific Ale take the crown again or will two-time winner Little Creatures Pale Ale snatch back the title? Or will a new beer receive the honour for 2012?

The countdown last year saw a significant spike in visitor numbers to the websites of our supporters Australian Brews News and Crafty Pint where it provoked vigorous discussion and debate. Join in the conversation tomorrow via Facebook or Twitter (official hashtag is #h100beers).

The results will be revealed in the table below or on the Australian Brews News and Crafty Pint websites, Facebook and Twitter pages in lots of 10 beers from 12.40pm before counting down the final 10 beers at five minute intervals from 2.10pm. The #1 ‘hottest’ Aussie craft beer of 2012 will be announced at 3pm!

Both Taphouses are also tapping the top ten beers as they are announced so come and join in the fun!

  1. The top 5 outstanding. In any order!
I still can't believe Coopers Vintage Ale polls so low.
I understand it's about the smaller brewery, but seriously, Coopers Vintage Ale is a far better (limited release) than some of the higher polled products.

Congratulations to everyone who go in the 100. Well done!

  2. Thanks for the comment Anon. Coopers Vintage does indeed deserve to poll well but it's hard for people when they're only voting for their 5 best beers.

  4. Somthing does not sit right with me RE: Vale Ale getting 4th spot. They called themself the McLaren Vale Beer Company to leverage of one of SA's wine regions, but were brewing in NSW. Hardly an honest craft beer. More just Sydney based business trying to fool beer lovers. FYI I do not own a brewry, this is just my opinion.

  5. An inspiring & occasionally bewildering list.
I would've bet a slab of something awesome that at least one of the Murray's darks would make the list.
It's fantastic to see a few breweries that I haven't heard of, as not all beers get the word of mouth they deserve, due to varying levels of interstate distribution.
Thanks to everyone who voted for suggesting a few new beers for me to try.

    1. Cheers for the feedback Matt. It's always hard when people only vote for 5 beers.

  6. Problem is no one has tasted every beer on the list, otherwise some may have polled way better (such as the Murray stouts that cost about 10 $ per 33 cl bottle). The top 5 is easily available (even though you can't find Hop Hog at Dan Murphy's) and it's strange not to see the Alpha.

  7. I'm stoked that a small nano brewery called HopDog came in 40th with their India Black Ale - "Children of Darkness". I'm lucky that I live locally and that I'm able to visit the brewery and see the passion and hard work that Tim (brewer and proud owner) puts in.
    Congratulations, well deserved.
If you ever get the chance to sample it I'd highly recommend it. I like it that much I buy 19L keg fills!
