New Sundowner Lager the first beer lined up for the Summer SpecTAPular

Chuck Hahn and the Malt Shovel guys have confirmed we can have a keg or two of their new Sundowner Lager for our Summer SpecTAPular. Now to find another 19 great summer drinking beers!

James Squire Chef’s Match Starts Monday

In an Australian first, chefs from each state are going head-to-head in pairing their recipes with James Squire beers in the James Squire Chef’s Match (Aug 4-23).

We're a participating venue in the ‘Gastro Pub’ category and serve one entrée and one main course, each matched to a different James Squire beer including Golden Ale, Original Amber Ale, Pilsener, IPA and Porter. Judging will be by anonymous judges when they visit competing venues and will be based on three categories – flavour, innovation and passion.

There is some serious competition but our Head Chef, Tyrone Bailey, has done a great job with what he's come up with so we'll give it our best shot!

James Squire Night a Success

On Wednesday, we hosted Australia's best known brewer, Chuck Hahn. Chuck entertained a great crowd of beer fans who sampled James Squire and Knappstein beers which were matched with great food. Thanks to Chuck and James Squire for their support.

The next beer event is likely to feature another Australian brewing legend. Watch this space!

I screwed up when I sent out a SMS Beer Bulletin saying the James Squire night with Chuck Hahn was on July 19th when it is, in fact, next Wednesday July 9th! There are still spots left for this night with Australia's pre-eminent brewer and for just $35 you get tapas plates matched with James Squire and Knappstein beer as well as to hear Chuck's tales..
