Darlo "Sticks 'em with the pointy end" - SUMMER IS HERE!!

GAME OF CIDERS - SUMMER IS HERE
On Sunday 29th September we held our first ever Cider Makeover on the roof terrace and it was an incredible day marked with hay bales, 27 degree sunshine and 10 ciders from 5 of the best cider producers in the country.

The SpecTAPular British & Irish Lions come to Darlo and show us a roaring good time!

Now that all the games are done, the bruises have their ice-packs and the sea of red are going home victorious it's time to reminisce...

This month, there was an event like no other. It united rival nations under the one roof. That's right. Britain against Australia, at the Local Taphouse's UK vs AUS SpecTAPular.

Featuring 10 amazing craft beers on tap from the UK, and 10 awesome Aussie beers on tap, as well as a handpump pulling an English-style Cask Conditioned Real Ale (brewed at The Australian Brewery), it was a beer event like no other.

Everyone here got involved in a big way, we were visited by The Queen herself as well as the Spice Girls, Lions and Braveheart.

But the big question on everyone's lips was "Who won?"

It's hard to say, but I think we can all agree that Beer was the winner on the day.

A Cider Masterclass at The Local Taphouse

Over the past 5 years we have made it our mission to put craft beer on the map here in Australia.

We showcase hundreds of beers per year, some unique or special collaborations and run Australia's best beer appreciation sessions, Ale Stars.

...and while that's certainly not going to change, we love our other products too, and in February, we're featuring our very first cider masterclass.

Join us on the 12th February, 7pm, at The Local (Darlinghurst) where special guests Max Allen (Cider Australia) & James Kendell (Small Acres Cyder) will take you on a delicious journey.

Armed with ciders from all over the globe, Max & James will help you explore your bitter-sweet palette    while giving you an insight into their special knowledge of these tasty creations.

As per usual there will be delicious snacks and time for Q&A, tickets are only $40 and will sell out fast. Book here to join the fun.

Suds County comes to Sydney

Australian Brews News & The Local Taphouse present....

On Monday October 1st, we will be screening a film recently completed in the US and never shown in Australia before. From 1953 to 1987, no beer was brewed on a commercial basis in San Diego County, period. Now some two decades plus on, San Diego County wins more brewing medals in national and international competitions than entire US states.

In the 2010 World Beer Cup, one of brewing's most prestigious international contests, San Diego brewers and breweries took home more medals than Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom combined!

"SUDS COUNTY, USA" tells the remarkable story of this brewing renaissance and covers the inextricable connection between the local pro brewers and home brewers who made this transition possible. This is a free screening starting at 7pm on the roof top, wireless headphones will be supplied plus there will be a 30min break in between for Q&A.

We hope to see you all here.
