The Dark Side of the Local, St. Kilda

In honour of the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" we're holding our own celebration of all things dark, namely beer.

Beginning the 15th August at 6pm, we'll have a fantastic international and local selection of dark, rich, mind altering beers taking over 6 - 10 taps to make Winter pass quicker than you can say "Eclipse".

The list will be updated on our Twitter and Facebook  accounts as beers are tapped but here's a little sneak peek of the beers, 10 of which will be launched next Thurs to the sounds of the original Pink Floyd album.

Fete de la Musique in St. Kilda - June 20th

Join the Alliance Francais as they present their annual Fete de la Musique at The Local Taphouse on Thursday June 20th in the Bocce Room.

Music starts at 6:30pm with Josh Rennie-Hyne (folk) and continues with Nicolette Forte & Friends (roots & world music) until 8:30pm.

Stay on for more music in the main bar from 9pm where well known jazz musician Paul Coyle and his newly formed Paul Coyle Trio will continue the great tunes into the night.

Darlinghurst and St. Kilda Ale Stars have a visit from 4 Pines

It's almost a whole year since the last 4 Pines Ale Stars, but after such a fantastic 12 months, how could we refuse the chance to get them back?!

Both St. Kilda and Darlinghurst will have a special visit from 4 Pines Chief Brewer Chris Willcock and Darlinghurst will possibly be able to meet Chris' partner in crime, head brewer Andrew Tweddell (TBC - the guys are flat out but we're hoping to have both on the night).

We'll be sampling their award winning Stout along with three of their Single Hop reserve beers. We'll also hear how these marvelous creations came about and more about the story of 4 Pines. There will be time for Q & A plus the usual challenging trivia and a delicious dinner.

Madwomen Monologues come to St. Kilda!

The Mad Women Monologues are back for 2012!

Once again we are showcasing the extraordinary, exciting, funny, sad, thrilling and brilliant abilities of women writers! The Mad Women Monologues brings together talented writers, directors and actors for TWO individual nights of performance.

We are also very pleased and proud to continue our pledge to support charities that support women and this year we will be donating 50% of our proceeds to The Womens Domestic Violence Crisis Service.

Tickets are only $25 for each night and you will be treated to some of the best acting, writing and directing talent available to Melbourne.

Barley's Angels in St. Kilda goes Grill Crazy!

Barley's Angels presents: "Girls on the Grill" as our end of year party!

Move over guys, the BBQ is the domain of the male no longer. It's time us ladies got to gather around the barbie supping great beers and chatting with the gals while we leave the boys in the kitchen.

If you have ever wanted to master the BBQ whilst learning about and tasting some incredible beers (including our latest all-female collaboration brew - Hildegarde's Biere de Garde), then come along to The Local Taphouse.

Under the professional instruction of our fabulous "Tongmaster" Pete Mitcham, together we will learn how to cook the perfect steak, whether there is any truth in the need to pierce your sausages and other great barbecuing techniques all of which will definitely grant you your space around the grill! Leave with some great beer & grill inspired recipes as well!

As it's our last Barley's Angels event for 2012, there will be some great giveaways & fun competitions throughout the evening. This is one not to be missed... we shall all leave together as "masters of the tong"!
