Fresh Stone beer to be tasted with Stone rep on Dec 23 in Darlo

In a very timely event given the huge response to the grey market discussions on the website forums of Beer Advocate and the like, Australian Brews News (who opened the most recent can of worms!) and The Local Taphouse are running a very special tasting event in Darlinghurst on Thursday Dec 23rd from 6.30pm from 8.30pm.

Ben Lee, Production Co-ordinator from Stone Brewing, will be the VIP guest and he is bringing with him a small quantity of Stone beer in his hand luggage from San Diego so a select few can taste test some fresh Stone beers.

Sadly there will only be enough beer for a small gathering of 10 people and we only have five of those places for the Taphouse. So, we will conduct a ballot with the current Darlo Ale Star annual members for these five spaces. The other spots are for ABN and if you'd like to come along as their guest, you need to explain (in 25 words or less) why you’d like to try fresh Stone beers. Entries close 5pm next Friday, 10 December and you the details about how to enter are here.

  1. Awesome! Do current Darlo Ale Stars automatically get put into the ballot?

  4. We invited Ben to fly to Melbourne but he couldn't as he's in Australia for just a few days with family.

You must be reading a different blog to the rest of us though. St Kilda has its own beer dinners, the Beerista 101 concept started in St Kilda, we've had more special guests at Ale Star sessions in St Kilda this year, St Kilda will have the first Bottle Store opening in March next year, the first Hall of Famers are in St Kilda ...

I think the ledger is pretty even... as it should be.

  6. Are you going to acquire the grey imported ones and do a blind side by side?

  7. Hey Brendan, we thought about it but decided against it. Also, I don't imagine Ben from Stone would be too interested.

  8. Stone is an amazing brew!

I had their pale ale in a ski town in Japan almost 2 years ago and have been trying to find it in Australia ever since.

Steve if you know where I can get my hands on some, let me know!
