CALLING ALL CRAFT BEER LOVERS! PUT THIS IN YOUR DIARY NOW.
We are so stoked about our Great Australian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) on Saturday Feb 12th that we think it could pan out to be the best event we've ever run at The Local Taphouses.
The Taphouse GABS is an invitational beerfest where a roll call of great and innovative Australian craft brewers will brew a "festival beer" just for the occasion or, in a few instances, launch a new seasonal for the first time in the country. Basically, you will be able to sample 20 exclusive beers from Australia's best brewers in the one spot on the one summer day! Salivating yet?!
So, without further ado, this is the confirmed lineup of 22 breweries:
QLD - Burleigh
NSW – Murrays, 4 Pines, Stone & Wood, Hunter Beer Co, Doctors Orders
WA – Feral, Last Drop, Mash Brewing
VIC - Mountain Goat, Bridge Road, Hargreaves Hill & Red Hill collaboration, Otway Estate, Jamieson, Moondog, Kooinda, Holgate, Thunder Road
SA - Brew Boys and Lobethal Brewing collaboration
ACT - Wig & Pen
Some of the beer ideas being emailed to me include Maibock; Organic Blueberry Hefeweizen; Traditional Bitter; Jasmine infused IPA; Coconut Brown Ale; Double White Ale; Belgium Red Ale possibly with some cranberries and whiskey-soaked cherries; Kellerbier matured on roasted oak chips; Belgian Wit Raspberry beer with some Coriander and Sweet Orange Peel; Wee Heavy; Imperial Mocha Porter with coffee; something through our new soon-to-be-christened Hopinator-style vessel and a Chocolate Chilli Porter. Gulp!
With such an exciting response, we might just explore the possibility of making GABS an annual event and bring the 2012 Taphouse GABS to much larger (and perhaps even outdoor) venues. Don't get too excited just yet as I think it might just be easier to climb Everest.
