This month's Ale Stars in St Kilda was all about hops as we welcomed Tim Lord, Managing Director from Hop Products Australia, as special guest. It was the first time we have had a session based on one ingredient and all agreed it was definitely an interesting and informative night.
With four differently hopped beers including Mornington Peninsula's Sorachi Kolsch, Hargreaves Hill Pilsner, Bridge Road Galaxy IPA, and Little Creatures Pale Ale through the Wilfrometer full of Cascade hops, we gained a great appreciation of the different flavours and aromas. Tim had brought along plenty of samples of various hops as well resulting in a delicious stench overwhelming the room.
A huge thanks to Tim for making the trip from Tassie to educate us on the wonders of hops. Also thanks to the impromptu contributions from some of our friends from the brewing community who were on hand - Sam (True South), Ron (Temple Brewing), Marcus and Harvey (Thunder Road) and Jamie (Stone & Wood). Thanks also to Peter and Dale from Bintani for dropping by.
