What a week this one promises to be.
On Tuesday May 17, the night after the BrewDog Ale Star session, we are having a low-key Meet the Brewer session with New Zealand's Yeastie Boys. Sam and Stu will be bringing some Yeastie treats along so let them shout you a beer from 7pm for an hour or two (or until the beer runs out!).
This is a free event and you don't need to book. Just come along.
Here is some info about Yeastie's two new beers:
Hud-a-wa' Strong (6.8%) is from a lineage of cryptic beer names... best described as a new world Imperial ESB (or is it a mini-Barleywine? Or a Burton Ale?). Strong, red, richly malty and judiciously hopped with Nelson-grown Styrian Golding, Pacifica and Cascade hops.
Rex Attitude (7%) is single malt peat-smoked Golden Ale (a beer that we believe is the world's first 100% peat-smoked beer). Imagine, if you are brave enough, a west coast Scottish whisky, like Caol Ila 12yo or Bowmore Legend, morphed into a strong golden ale with a delicate lip-smacking inclusion of citrusy US Willamette hops. Conventional wisdom says it shouldn't work but who ever created something unique with conventional wisdom!?
Good one, their previous offering, Pot Kettle Black, was exquisite.
