A relatively small (by our own lofty standards) crowd wandered in last Tuesday for this month's Ale Stars.
Shandy our Ale Star Tsar had finally, after nearly 3 years, worked a Scottish theme into proceedings and he started like you'd expect any Scot - with a bit of a rant about Scotland's superiority to the other nations that comprise the United Kingdom.
Then it was onto the weird and wonderful beers that come from said land. With names like Skull Splitter and Dark Island you could be forgiven for thinking the theme was pirate beers. Opinions were, as always, divided on which was the best drop with the bigger wee heavies mostly getting the nod over the 80 shilling and the gruit. (now there's a sentence that would certainly only make sense to a beer nerd...how far we've come!)
