It was a case of big, bigger, biggest at the Ale Star beer appreciation session in St Kilda last Tuesday as we hopped (see what I did there) into some US beers that really packed a punch.
In order of appearance, the beers were Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale, Green Flash West Coast IPA, Clown Shoes Eagle Claw Fist and Weyerbacher Brewing Co Old Heathen.
Best 'low alcohol' beer went to the Red Rocket Ale, coming in at a paltry 6.8%. Best picture (on the label) went to the kung fu character on the Eagle Claw Fist bottle. Leading beer in a foreign style was the Old Heathen, a Russian Imperial Stout. And last but not least, best supporting beer went to Green Flash's West Coast IPA, mainly for supporting the hop heads out there.
