“The Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular is the most crazily ambitious thing ever attempted in Aussie beer”, James Smith (from Crafty Pint) said in Time Out magazine.

Well, we'll know soon enough as it's a little over two weeks until the Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular takes place at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton on May 11-13. With Major Sponsors The Age and Dan Murphy's, GABS opens Melbourne’s Good Beer Week with a massive celebration of craft beer expected to draw thousands of people. For five sessions over 3 days, the Royal Exhibition Building will be transformed into an giant craft beer hall with hundreds of tables and benches and four bars serving SIXTY brand new craft beers brewed by Australia and New Zealand’s finest breweries. There will also be the GABS Food Market, live entertainment and free educational seminars at The Local Taphouse’s ‘Craft Beer College’.

Most of our GABS updates have been posted on the GABS Facebook page. If you would like more information about GABS, you can check out the official GABS website and tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com.au. The Official Guide to GABS is a 16-page booklet launched tomorrow as The Age inserts more than 260,000 copies into its newspaper. The Guide will also be available at Dan Murphy's Melbourne metro stores as well as on entry to any session of GABS.

We hope to update you once more before the event but if not, we hope to see you there!

  4. Hey Ben, if you volunteer to work for one session, you get a free entry ticket to another session. We have something like 550 volunteers so I think we're all booked up but you should email Steph at volunteer@thelocal.com.au.
