The Darlinghurst Barley's Angels get into the Beer & Cheese...

Given that The Local Taphouse has been known as your 'typical man pub' based on the fact that we focus on wonderful craft beers, we do actually want the women out there, in here too.

The long awaited instalment of Barley's Angels is almost here. This time 'Beer Diva' Kirrily Waldhorn has again come up with a timeless match of Beer & Cheese; a true pleasure for the palate.

Those not to familiar with Barley's Angels pay attention.
Barley's Angels is a fantastic female society whom focus their attention on craft beers and other delights which go hand in hand with beer. They meet up with like minded girls and have a great night discussing the ins and outs of the topic, this case being 'Beer & Cheese'

The event takes place on Tuesday 26th February in the private and beautiful surroundings of The Louvre, (on the first floor) Local Taphouse Darlinghurst from 6:30pm.

Tickets are $35, that includes all of the beers and cheese.
Tickets are limited so don't hesitate in following this link and joining in the fun. It's time to leave the boys at home while the women enjoy the Local pub.

Sydney Craft Beer Week at your Local Taphouse!

So here it is, what you've all been waiting for! Get your diaries out and your pens ready.
Here is The Local Taphouse line up for Sydney Craft Beer Week.

On Saturday 20th October we have our quarterly Charity Fundraiser, SpecTAPular. The theme is "Hopp'n Mad" so we'll let you use that imagination of yours to think of what we have in store for you all. It's a gold coin donation on the door, there's 20 Hoppy craft beers on tap, a fantastic new menu for the day and great entertainment. Doors open at Midday so get in early to avoid the 'madness'!!

Right next event, Crafty Trivia on Monday 22nd! After a weekend of SpecTAPular and a nice Sunday roof session you'll need to get your heads back into gear. Come and test your beer knowledge against like minded people. Hosted by John Barrand, there's some great prizes and it's free and starts from 7pm - Why not?!
If Trivia's not your thing and you happen to be a beer loving female and proud of it, then do we have a treat for you! Head upstairs to The Louvre and the infamous 'Beer Diva' Kirrily Waldhorn herself is hosting Barley's Angels where 'Beer will meet Life Art'. Share some fantastic brews whilst the Beer Diva teaches you the secrets behind them, but it may be hard to concentrate while you're drawing a beautiful Male Model! For a ticket please click here.

Moving onto Tuesday 23rd October we feel the need for it all to become a bit extreme! The chaps from The Beer Lovers Guide will be here with the new edition of 'The Beer Lovers Guide to Extreme Beer' for all guests! There will be a selection of extreme beers with a paddle of 5 on arrival for all guests. Feeling adventurous? Ready to turn up the notch on your beer drinking? Then click here for a ticket.
Still on Tuesday, we are now making one home brewers dream come true!
Back in September we gave home brewers the chance to get their creations pro-brewed! Well the time has come to launch the 'Beer mimics Food' Winning brew (brewed in part by our friends at 4 Pines).
The beer will be on tap from 7pm so come down and grab yourself a glass while you still can!

Well, it's Wednesday 24th October, we've been pretty SpecTAPular and quite artistic with an extreme twist, but now it's time to get 'Epic'. It's an Epic Brewery Tap Make Over for October's edition of Ale Stars. Our monthly beer appreciation society are in for a treat and we've always got tickets for you too. As per usual doors open at 7pm, we will have special guests, quirky Trivia and tasty treats from the Chef.
Ale Stars, this is the only way to begin the better half of the week! For a ticket, book here!

If you're still here, you've done a smashing job so far so let's keep this beer ball rolling into something a little classier! Thursday 25th October we are hosting our annual 'Brewers & Chewers' event, a delicious 5 course dinner with the brewers themselves who are bringing some special (and in some cases, one of a kind) brews.
Come and dine with the brewers at a feast that will surely make your week. For tickets book here.
Every day that we do not have an event on, it is business as usual, the DJ's, the Bands, all the goodness that you love about your Local, just stay were you belong! Any queries please give us a call on 02 9360 0088 and we'll show you the way.
Come and be a part of history!

Barley's Angels in St. Kilda - Beer & Cupcakes!

A great night was had by our Melbourne Barley's Angels during our most recent session which had the theme Beer & Cupcakes.  The 4 delicious mini cupcakes were specially created and provided by Jess from Sugadeaux along with an extra special cupcake to decorate and take home (we would have eaten it, but we were too full!)

Our host,Tiffany Waldron of Beer Girl Bites, was on hand to take us through the pairings - some obvious, like a cupcake with raspberry icing & Lindeman's Framboise beer. Others were not so obvious, like Mike's Heavy Petal rose infused beer with a mouthwatering vanilla bean cardamom cupcake.  It was agreed by all that the combinations of sweet, sugary goodness and beer was a hit!

To see more photos from the night click here.

We can't wait until the next session of Barley's Angels in October. Stay tuned for the next theme and follow Barley's Angels here  on Facebook for updates.

Darlo Autumn Beer Diva Dinner - the wrap

Another season, another delicious evening of food and beer with the Beer Diva.

Wednesday's Autumn dinner was new chef David's first crack at a Beer Diva dinner and he certainly did not disappoint. With food ranging from scallops to braised pork shoulder and much more, and interesting beers to match, it really was a great night. One of the highlights was tasting Doctors Orders' Zephyr as it was originally brewed, and then after it had been through the Funky Brewster which is currently filled with pepperberries and orange peel.

A huge thanks to Kirrily for another great night. Our next Beer Diva dinner is on June 15th. Click here to book.

Cheers and Beers,

the Local Crew

PS. Thanks to Andrew Mitchell for the exquisite photos..

Darlo Beer Diva Spring Feast.... A Treat

P1000641

The Beer Diva, Kirrily. hosted another successful event on Wednesday night at Darlinghurst.

The Spring themed event proved popular with 25 keen participants in the Louvre Room enjoying a four course feast, starting with scallops with James Squire Amber Chili Jam matched with Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen followed by a rack of Spring Lamb teamed with Stone & Wood Draught Ale.

Between courses Kirrily entertained the guests with trivia and 'name that beer' interspersed with her beer expertise.

Team 2 revved up by having a beer in between each of Kirrily's chosen brews, as the remaining guests contemplated each beer style and the tantalising apple terrine with a 2 Brothers Gypsy Cider sorbet.
